Vintage car rally: 17,500 euros collected for children with cancer!

The roar of engines and a warm atmosphere – this is how the charity vintage car rally that took place on Saturday in Gründau-Lieblos can be summed up. Numerous classic car enthusiasts from Freigericht, Mühlheim am Main and Schlüchtern set out on a route of around 130 kilometers to not only share their automotive historical knowledge, but above all to support a good cause. This event had the noble aim of raising funds for children suffering from cancer.

The classic car and motorsport club Freigericht e.V. was significantly involved in organizing the event. Under the patronage of Max Schad, a CDU member of the state parliament, an impressive amount of 17,500 euros was collected. This sum will benefit the Frankfurt Foundation for Children with Cancer and the Help for Children with Cancer Frankfurt e.V. association, in the spirit of supporting affected families and investigating childhood cancer. The foundation, which was founded in 1994, is closely linked to a non-profit research institution that operates under the name "Dr. Petra Joh-Haus" - a homage to Dr. Petra Joh, who died of cancer in 1999 and whose legacy lives on in research.

A celebration for the community

However, the focus was not only on the proceeds, but also on the communal idea. There was no timing or awards ceremony, which ensured a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. A breakfast was provided for the participants, while lunch had to be organized by the drivers themselves - a welcome challenge that added to the family atmosphere of the event.

Many visitors gathered along the route to admire the impressive vintage cars and watch the hustle and bustle. The donations collected were invested with great hope of having a positive impact on research, which was particularly emphasized by Max Schad in his speech. The impressive work of the researchers at Dr. Petra Joh-Haus showed visitors how valuable every single euro can be in the fight against childhood cancer.

The overall response was overwhelming. Participants and visitors agreed: events like this strengthen the community while supporting an extremely important cause. Hopefully the rattling of engines in Gründau will continue to generate numerous donations and a happy gathering in the future.
