On October 28, 2025, the time had finally come: the groundbreaking ceremony for the new after-school building at the Gartenstrasse elementary school was ceremoniously held. The project was officially launched under the eyes of numerous people present, including members of the city council, project participants and representatives of the agricultural school. Mayor Andreas Buckreus did not miss the opportunity to open the ceremony with his welcoming speech.
With a wink, Buckreus compared construction to a “high-performance sport” because the schedule is extremely tight. Costs and financing in focus
The planned after-school building will not be cheap: the total costs amount to an impressive 9.1 million euros. The project will be financed largely through special investment programs and allocations within the framework of the Bavarian Financial Equalization Act (BayFAG). The city of Roth will contribute its own contribution of 3.1 million euros.
Despite the high costs, there is support for the project, even if the Roth city council initially expressed concerns. Outlook for completion
The new after-school care center has now gained momentum with the initial construction work and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027.
