A life for education: Albert Rösch honored after 58 years at the VHS!
On November 28, 2025, Albert Rösch, a veteran of the adult education center in the Roth district, was ceremonially farewelled after 58 impressive years of teaching. The celebratory ceremony took place in the magnificent Seckendorff Castle and attracted numerous companions who honored Rösch's great achievements in adult education. Mayor Claudia Lux and Mayor Markus Mahl highlighted the tireless commitment of the outgoing lecturer, who has left a lasting impression in the heart of Roth and beyond.
Albert Rösch began his journey at the adult education center on March 7, 1967 with an English course, which was the start of a long and successful career. Over the years, he has led language courses in various institutions for almost three decades, including in the high school with a language laboratory and in the Seckendorff Castle itself. His commitment to literature is remarkable: since 1973 he has been a fixture in literature education, holding lecture series and courses on German and international literature in Georgensgmünd, Abenberg and Roth.
Cultural education and international understanding
Rösch was always able to inspire people with literature and played a crucial role in promoting cultural education and international understanding in the district. His courses, which met with unwavering popularity after the short interruption caused by the corona pandemic, are evidence of his ability to inspire and captivate participants. Dr. Walburga Kumar, a long-time course participant, described in moving words how Rösch's influence enriched learning.
After the celebrations, Rösch warmly thanked his wife Karin and the participants, whose loyalty has always motivated him. The Roth Adult Education Center is not only saying goodbye to a valued lecturer, but is also looking for new staff. Anyone interested in contributing their knowledge and skills as course instructors is invited to get in touch.
Adult education center as a pillar of further education
Adult education centers, like the one in Roth, make an indispensable contribution to adult education. In Germany, over 900 adult education centers are organized in the German Adult Education Association and offer a wide range of courses, from languages and IT to health and nutrition. These offers not only fulfill a public educational mandate, but are often available directly on site, making participation particularly easy. Volkshochschulen.info points out that it makes sense to find out comprehensively about the courses on offer in order to find the right program.
The statistics from German adult education centers, which have been recorded annually since 1962, provide a deep insight into the development of further training and participation over the years. The Bonn offers comprehensive data that shows that adult education centers not only respond to regional needs, but are also used intensively as places of encounter and exchange.
