Mellrichstadt runs for a good cause: reached 10,000 kilometers!

The "Days of School Sports" in the Rhön-Grabfeld district caused a sensation in mid-May 2025. From April 28 to May 9, a total of 18 schools with 129 classes competed against each other and reached an impressive new course record: over 10,000 kilometers were run. A remarkable success, which was organized by Sport in school and association as well as the school office Rhön-Grabfeld.

The children were not only active in sports, but also gave money to get money for their heart projects. Each class was able to look forward to a donation of 250 euros that she could pass on to selected facilities. A great incentive, as it turned out, because with pleasant temperatures and bright sunshine, the motivation of the students was at a climax.

The winning classes did a great job: the elementary school in Mellrichstadt, class 3b, was allowed to run most kilometers in their age group and donate their prize money to the Bannigsmühle shelter. The Realschule Mellrichstadt was also able to celebrate a double victory: Classes 8abc won for the 5th - 8th age group. Classes and donations for the Tierfinder Rhön, while classes 10abc collect for the Bad Neustadt table. A total of three further 250 euros donations were raffled off among all participating classes, which fortunately also go to local projects.

The project not only offers the children an incentive for regular exercise, but should also contribute to reducing traffic chaos from schools.
