Mathias Klöffel receives Cross of Merit for his work in agriculture!
On July 18, 2025, Mathias Klöffel, the committed district chairman of the Bavarian Farmers' Association in the Rhön-Grabfeld district, was awarded the Cross of Merit with Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. This honor recognizes his many years of commitment to agriculture and rural areas, as well as his tireless work for the people in his homeland. bayerischerbauernverband.de reports that Klöffel supports agriculture, nature conservation and renewable energies under the motto “Community: Moving People”.
Klöffel has been heading the BBV Rhön-Grabfeld district association for over two decades now, more precisely since 2002. During this time he initiated numerous projects that now serve as role models for other regions. Particularly noteworthy is his commitment to the energy transition in rural areas. He relies on the use of biogas, wind and solar energy in sustainable community projects.
Due appreciation
State Secretary Sandro Kirchner praised Klöffel's remarkable combination of professional commitment and volunteer work during the award ceremony. But it didn't take long for the congratulations from BBV President Günther Felßner and state farmer Christine Singer to arrive. They praised Klöffel's pioneering work, particularly the development of Großbardorf into a bioenergy village. This development is a shining example of how successfully committed people can work for the region.
Another important project that underlines Klöffel's commitment is the founding of Agrokraft GmbH. This supports communities and farmers in establishing a decentralized energy supply, which not only contributes to strengthening regional value creation, but also raises awareness of sustainable practices in rural areas.
