Regensburg celebrates young talents with scholarships in the Historical Reichssaal
Young talents were honored in the Historic Reichssaal in Regensburg on Friday, October 24, 2025. The award ceremony, at which a total of 115,950 euros in scholarships and prizes were awarded, was an impressive sign of the promotion of education in the region. The city of Regensburg is proud of its four universities and numerous educational institutions, as well Regensburg.de reported.
The scholarships awarded come from the Dr. Seyboth Scholarship Foundation, the Prof. Neumüller Scholarship Foundation and the Brigitta and Oskar Braumandl Foundation. The amounts of these scholarships ranged between 1,700 and 10,000 euros. In her speech, Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer emphasized the importance of education in a time characterized by digitalization and globalization. Education opens up opportunities and is an invitation to lifelong learning and critical thinking, says Maltz-Schwarzfischer.
A celebration of talent
The musical performance of the 13-year-old pianist Ilias Grau, who was a winner of the Hildegard Schmalzl Music Foundation, was particularly moving. His performance brought a festive atmosphere to the event and rounded off the honoring of the scholarship holders. The city of Regensburg, which manages eleven charitable foundations, ensures that talents and social issues are not forgotten.
The scholarships from the city of Regensburg are not the only options for students and pupils. Another important program is the Max Weber Program, which supports the best high school graduates and students at Bavarian universities on behalf of the Free State of Bavaria. Students from the 3rd semester onwards can apply here or be recommended by examination offices. Important: The application deadlines are November 10th and June 10th, as shown on the website University of Regensburg can be found. A wide range of mentors at the university support the award winners.
Opportunities for disadvantaged young people
An additional program, “Talent in the State – Bavaria”, is specifically aimed at supporting talented young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds on their way to obtaining their Abitur. Not only financial help is offered here, but also personal advice and educational opportunities to promote equal opportunities. Young people who are attending at least the 9th grade and are aiming for a high school diploma or a technical college entrance qualification can apply between April and June. More information about this can be found on the website Bavarian Ministry of Culture to find.
The city of Regensburg and the Bavarian programs show that investments are being made in education and there are many opportunities to promote talent. A strong network between scholarship holders, educational institutions and sponsors not only strengthens individual opportunities, but also the future of our society.
