Hans Rothammer receives the Silver Citizens Medal for ten years of SSV Jahn!
Yesterday, November 15th, a special honor was held in the Historical Reichssaal of the Old Town Hall. In a festive setting, Hans Rothammer received the “Silver Citizens Medal” from the city of Regensburg. This award is one of the highest honors the city can bestow and has been presented since 1913. The 72-year-old Rothammer is not only chairman of the supervisory board of SSV Jahn Regensburg GmbH & Co. KGaA, but was also recognized for his great achievements during his ten-year term as chairman of the board of SSV Jahn Regensburg e.V., which he held from 2014 to 2024.
During the ceremony, Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer praised the important role of SSV Jahn for the city and the entire region. Under Rothammer's leadership, the club has developed into an established professional club and is now the most successful football club in Eastern Bavaria. Rothammer has set important milestones in recent years, including the opening of the new stadium in 2015 and fending off a dubious investor in 2017. He was also instrumental in renaming the stadium to “Jahnstadion Regensburg” in 2020.
Important achievements and commitment
The Rothammer era was characterized by sporting successes. Under his leadership, SSV Jahn managed to move from the regional league to the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2016/2017 season. In addition, the club was able to secure relegation five times by 2022 and celebrated promotion again in 2024. However, Rothammer's commitment goes beyond sport. As a co-founder of the initiative “We stand on e.V.” he is actively committed to diversity and social values.
Particularly noteworthy are the extensive investments in the infrastructure, such as the measures on the training grounds and the conclusion of the leasehold agreement for the new youth training center in Barbing. Despite his resignation as chairman of the board, Rothammer will remain with the club as chairman of the supervisory board, which will certainly please the supporters of SSV Jahn.
A remarkable journey
Rothammer is now the 73rd recipient of the “Silver Citizens Medal”. His career is a prime example of how commitment and foresight can positively influence not only a club, but also an entire city. During his time at SSV he provided both sporting and social impulses. A man with a vision and exemplary integrity – a real asset for Regensburg!
