Holm Putzke, a frameworkless CSU city council, draws attention to the new Poststeg at the main train station with a critical view of the new Poststeg. On his tour he broadcast greetings from the construction site and compared the situation with a “Pisa Gag”, while he described the bridge construction work as a “bitter reality” in the cityscape. like the Passauer Neue Presse reported, the construction project of Deutsche Post AG began on June 14, 2024 with the demolition of the existing mail. At this point there is now a new pedestrian bridge that will be positioned about 10 to 15 meters west of the old platform. This new connection between Grünaustraße in the south and Bahnhofstrasse in the north plays a central role in the connection to the central omnibus station and contributes to improving traffic safety.

after building investigations had shown that the old post platform was in an insufficient state, which impaired stability and traffic safety. Therefore, it was decided to rebuild the bridge completely. The Committee for Urban Development and Mobility had already approved the proposal of the Deutsche Post DHL Group for the replacement for replacement construction in April 2023. After completion, the city of Passau will take over the bridge and is then also responsible for traffic safety.

The construction work is divided into five sections, whereby from April 14 to May 9, 2025, traffic impairments in Oberen Bahnhofstrasse and Grünaustraße are expected. During this time, the P5 parking lot between house numbers 25 and 29a is completely blocked. The alternative parking spaces for taxis and short-term parkers are temporarily shown on Bahnhofstrasse.
