New sidewalk on Hennebergerstrasse: Safety for Passau citizens!

There is reason to be happy in Passau: The city recently completed a new sidewalk on Hennebergerstrasse in the Heining district. This footpath, which is around 30 meters long and around 1.50 meters wide, creates a valuable connection between Goldberg and Neustifter Straße. Particularly noteworthy is the access to the centrally located bus stop in the newly developed area, which was previously only accessible from Goldberg. This significantly improves accessibility for all pedestrians and increases safety.

The work was carried out by the municipal building yard and, in addition to the excavation, also included the setting of ledge stones and angle support walls. In addition, the foundations were laid for a privacy screen. The installation of the base and top layer is now completed, so that the sidewalk can be used immediately. The city of Passau implemented this measure for around 17,500 euros, which is based on suggestions from citizens to make walking to the bus stop safer. In addition, a gabion wall is planned along the adjacent property and a crossing aid in lower Hennebergerstrasse is also to be built. Similar measures have already been implemented, such as the sidewalk from Walter-Hornsteiner-Straße to the Rittsteiger Straße bus stop, which has primarily made the route to school safer.

New sidewalk to the Donauhof bus stop

But that's not all that's happening in the city of Passau. The sidewalk to the Donauhof bus stop, which leads into the city, was also recently completed. This approximately 60 meter long and 1.20 meter wide sidewalk extends from the Donauhof workshops exit to the bus stop. The construction work, which was completed within a week, included asphalt paving cutting, excavation and asphalt paving. The total costs for this project are around 43,000 euros.

The initiative for this walkway came from the Donauhof workshops, an important facility for people with disabilities in the region. This institution ensures that many of its employees rely on public transport. The new sidewalk therefore helps to promote the mobility and safety of these people, especially given the increased volume of traffic in the area.

Passau therefore shows itself not only as a city with a sense of community, but also as one that responds to the needs of its citizens. It remains to be hoped that the city will continue to have a good hand and implement such important projects quickly.
