Summer fairy tale of the voices: Chorfest inspires 115,000 visitors in Nuremberg!
Nürnberg, Deutschland - Last weekend the German Chorfest 2025 took place under the motto "Voices of Diversity" in Nuremberg. From May 29 to June 1, over 420 choirs came together, which demonstrated their skills in more than 620 concerts, competitions and hands -on activities. Among them were also the choir Concordia Liederkranz e.V. from Etingshausen and the Singer Association 1854 Staufenberg e.V. (Chor Cantiamo), which were led by Axel Pfeiffer.
The journey to this special event was carried out on “Father's Day” with two buses, which in Beuern considered a musical serenade. As part of the opening ceremony at the main market in Nuremberg, prominent personalities such as Christian Wulff, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Markus Söder spoke. Mayor Marcus König described the festival as "summer fairy tale of the voices" and the entire event was characterized by an overwhelming peacefulness - the police confirmed that there were no significant incidents.
a festival of superlative
The numbers speak for themselves: Around 14,000 singers from numerous choirs appeared and moved to the city more than 115,000 guests. A total of 628 concerts took place in the four festival days, which met with great response from visitors. Christian Wulff, former Federal President and President of the German Choir Association, emphasized the importance of the choir festival as a place of cooperation.
The two choirs from Etingshausen and Staufenberg had a lot to offer. They took part in the country presentation of the Hessian Singing Association and gave a concert in the Sebalduskirche, which was under the title "No fear of new tones". The audience was particularly enthusiastic, thanked after the performances of "Laudate Dominum" (Knut Nystedt) and "Sanctus" (Jan Sandström) with a standing ovation. Alwin M. Schronen's premiere "time to (M) cough" also received a lot of applause.
common sounds and new friendships
Another highlight was the appearances in the historic town hall hall, where the Concordia Liederkranz presented the "hunting song" by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and "Kum Ba Yah, My Lord". Cantiano contributed "Marienlob" (Sergej Rachmaninov) and "It’s My Life" (arr. Von Oliver Gies). The crowning glory was a common song that moved all the movement - the folk song "I went for a walk" (Gunther Erdmann) and the "evening song" (Josef Gabriel Reinberger) were sung together, followed by the encore "An Irish Blessing".
After the concerts, a dinner took place together, in which new friendships were made between the choir members. After an unforgettable experience, the singers started returning on Sunday, enriched by the memories and experiences of the choir test. The clubs are always happy about new members who want to share their passion for music.
Overall, the German choir festival impressively shows how music brings people together and creates a feeling of community. It remains to be hoped that such events will continue to take place so successfully and peacefully.
