Ties for a good cause: Lionsclub starts creative collection!
In Neustadt an der Waldnaab a lot is happening! On July 19, 2025, an exciting event is on the program: a creative tie collection campaign organized by the committed members of the Neustadt Lions Club. From 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., everyone who still has old ties at home can hand over them in the popup store in the old Löwen pharmacy on Stadtplatz 41. The goal? Collect old ties and transform them into unique works of art.
The idea behind this action is awesome: the artistically designed ties are given against donations. And the best thing about it? The proceeds flow into an important project that serves a good cause. The organizers not only have creativity in mind, but also the willingness to help the population.
Creative ties for a good cause
The Lions Club has made a name for itself in recent years, especially through various fundraisers. When selling Advent wreaths in 2024, an impressive 4,300 euros could be collected for the “Wunschmobil” project of the German Red Cross Südliche Weinstraße e.V. This special offer is aimed at palliative patients and fulfills their travel requests in the last phase of life. This shows that every euro counts and makes a difference - and the Lions would like to demonstrate that again with their tie campaign.
The ties can not only be submitted during the collection campaign, but also at the upcoming citizens' festival or during a bike tour in the popup store. If this is not a reason to clean up again in the wardrobe!
Change in the Lions Club and new projects
A new face has recently had the leadership of the Lions Club: Dierk Vagt, chief physician at the Neustadter Marienhaus Clinic Hetzstift and Professor, has taken over the office of president. His motto "Behind the Curtains" focuses on the perspective of women in different professions and shows that the interests of the community continue to be very important. He receives support from his predecessor Michael Landgraf and Vice President Dr. Stefan Grutke and Christian Hormuth.
However, this is not the only project that the Lions Club puts on its feet. The “Water in the City” initiative, which was launched in 2016, also shows how important it is to make Neustadt even more attractive to the members. Another highlight was the unveiling of sculptures on the evolution of an Elwetritsch on October 1, 2023, which was created in cooperation with the community foundation and the city management.
So, dear reader: inside, pack your old ties together and take part in the collection campaign! It's not just about creativity, but also about the good feeling of doing something good.
