Patrick Krettek: Return to the regional league after a year break!

Patrick Krettek from Ried is back in the game! The 32-year-old referee can finally referee in the regional league again after a one-year break. This news was recently published by Danube Courier released, and it's safe to say that the Newburg native's return represents a positive uplift in refereeing in the region.

Krettek, who began his refereeing career in the district league at the age of 15, has had a remarkable career over the past 19 years. He rose from the district league through the district and state league to the regional league and is now one of 26 referees in this league. Despite a difficult time marked by injuries, he fought his way back into the upper echelon of Bavarian football.

A place in the perspective squad

The referees in the regional league are selected from two pools: the youth squad for the younger players and the perspective squad, to which Krettek belongs. This squad consists of a total of 50 people, and two referees made it into the regional league. Krettek himself strengthened the rankings last season with a performance in eight district league games.

Not only understanding the game is important for refereeing, but also communication with the assistants. Krettek has officiated over 1,000 games and knows how to handle criticism from the audience. He uses modern headsets to receive clear instructions from his assistants during the game.

Training and future prospects

Another aspect of his work is training new referees. Krettek is the instructor of the referee group in Neuburg and likes to share his knowledge with the newcomers. He has noticed the increasing interest in referee training, which makes him optimistic about the future. Loud BFV Other referees are also noticing changes in the league, with some voluntarily retiring from the Regionalliga while new faces are moving up to the Bayernliga. An official event will soon take place as part of a regional league referee course to say goodbye to the outgoing referees.

In order to give younger people a chance to acquire the C license, various courses are planned. These consist of theoretical and practical training, as in NDB Volleyball Bavaria described. Krettek plans to referee in the regional league for as long as possible, but given his age, he sees no opportunity for higher leagues.

Refereeing comes with a lot of responsibility, but with the commitment and expertise of referees like Patrick Krettek, football will certainly continue to have a high status in the region. Let's look ahead to next season!
