Painters in the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district: wage increase for 100 employees!
In the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district, painters and varnishers can breathe a sigh of relief. Thanks to successful collective bargaining, they can look forward to a wage increase. From now on, the billing per hour of work is 19.42 euros. For full-time employees, this means an increase of around 90 euros at the end of the month. This wage increase applies retroactively to April 2025 and was achieved as a result of “extremely tough” negotiations. Around 100 employees are active in 21 painting companies and varnish shops in the district, who are now benefiting from this agreement, reports Nettle.
The negotiations were initially on the rocks before both collective bargaining parties reached an agreement on April 11, 2025. The new collective agreement was signed on April 15th after intensive discussions and, in addition to the wage increase, also provides for an east-west equalization of wages. IG BAU had demanded an increase of 8% in order to achieve a basic wage of 20.37 euros, while the employer side made a lower offer, like German craft newspaper highlights.
Increasing training allowances and minimum wage
The apprentices in the painting and varnishing trades can also be particularly happy: from August 2025 they will receive 50 euros more per year of training, and a further increase is planned for August 2026. In addition, employees without a collective wage are entitled to a minimum wage of 15.55 euros from July 2025, which will rise to 16.13 euros the following year. These are the results of the new collective agreement, which will also provide for improvements for all employees in the East and West DGB reported.
In summary, the industry expects a comprehensive adjustment of wages and training allowances in the next few years. The next wage increase is scheduled to take place in June 2026, followed by the transition to uniform wages for East and West from January 2027. The collective bargaining has not only given employees more security, but also a positive outlook for the entire industry.
