Drunk driving: Drunk father arrested in Bogenhausen!
In the early morning of June 9, 2025, the police in the Bogenhausen district became aware of an unsafe Audi. The officers observed how the driver suddenly changed lanes and almost collided with the police vehicle. Instead of stopping, the 31-year-old driver from Baden-Württemberg fled at excessive speed, disregarding a red light three times and ignoring the police patrol's stop signals. Eventually the man was temporarily arrested, but he physically defended himself and smelled strongly of alcohol. The police then ordered a blood sample and confiscated his driver's license. The driver's six-year-old son sat in the passenger seat and was taken to the police station, where he was later picked up by relatives. This dangerous situation once again shows how drunk driving puts many people's lives at risk. According to ADAC, drinking and driving is not only a threat to other road users, but can also have serious legal consequences for drivers.
The alcohol limits in Germany are clearly defined. There is a strict 0.0 alcohol alcohol ban for novice drivers and people under 21 years of age. From 0.3 per mille, relative inability to drive can be suspected, and from 0.5 per mille it is considered an administrative offense. If the blood alcohol level exceeds 1.1 per mille, driving is punishable, which in this case could have very serious consequences for the Audi driver. It should also be noted that motor vehicle liability insurance pays for third-party damage, but can claim back up to 5,000 euros in the event of alcohol abuse - a fact that is particularly important in the current situation.
Other traffic accidents and crimes
In the last few days there have been further abnormalities in traffic in Munich. On June 8, a 19-year-old driver who was under the influence of cannabis was caught during a traffic stop. He was also asked to take a blood sample and his vehicle key was confiscated. Interestingly, he continued his journey on June 10, again under the influence of drugs, before being stopped again.
Another incident occurred on June 10th when a cyclist fell and seriously injured himself in Sendling while riding without a protective helmet. The police therefore recommend that you always wear a bicycle helmet to minimize the risk of serious injuries.
Burglaries and fraud crimes
But crime in Munich doesn't stop there even outside of traffic. There have been numerous burglaries in restaurants in the city since spring 2024, with a 45-year-old man considered a suspect and already in custody. The acts often appeared to have been committed during opening hours, perhaps a bold but risky approach.
In Pasing, a 68-year-old fell victim to a call center fraud in which a fraudster posed as a police officer and demanded a high deposit. A 16-year-old was arrested while collecting this bail. In Ramersdorf, a woman over 80 received a similar call from someone pretending to be a hospital employee. While handing over money to an unknown perpetrator, she later filed a complaint. Unfortunately, such scams are a common phenomenon in the region.
These incidents remind us of the importance of being careful and taking both road safety and crime prevention seriously. How often does it have to be said that alcohol and drugs have no place on the road? Safety measures can save lives and are therefore essential.
