Folk festival in Hausham: Veterans Day thrilled with tradition and respect!

The folk festival in Hausham opened on Friday, June 13, 2025, and Mayor Jens Zangenfeind was there, probably for the last time in this role, as he will be moving to Miesbach as district administrator next year. The opening was accompanied by a traditional concert at the old post office, followed by a magnificent procession to the festival tent, where the mayor and Christian Baur tapped the first barrel of Reutberger beer. The festival, which runs until June 21st, is supposed to end with a brilliant fireworks display.

A very special highlight was the premiere of National Veterans Day, which was celebrated on Sunday as a central event in the district. Zangenfeind took the opportunity to express his respect to the active and former soldiers and their families. Bundestag member Karl Bär (Greens) also emphasized the importance of supporting soldiers after their service, especially against post-traumatic symptoms.

A day of associations and remembrance

Veterans Day went hand in hand with the so-called “Club Day”, which was brought forward to the first Sunday of the festival. The church procession, coordinated by Wolfgang Bloch, led the participants to a service in the parish church of St. Anton with a subsequent commemoration of the dead. Lieutenant Colonel of the Reserve Ernst-Erik Elmering recalled the Bundeswehr's mission to maintain peace and freedom. The ceremony ended with the national anthem, played by the Marienstein-Waakirchen Knappenkapelle, and marked a ceremonial conclusion to this tribute.

The event was not only an opportunity to honor veterans, but also a platform for community exchange. At the festival, a delegation from the Italian partner community Levico Terme also attracted attention and underlined the international character of the festival.

Versatile program for all generations

The folk festival in Hausham offers a varied entertainment program for the entire family until June 21st. In addition to regional dishes and beer from the Reutberg monastery brewery, festival host Hans Seidl ensures that no culinary delights are neglected. The happy start was with a concert by the Agatharied brass band, before a varied program created a good atmosphere, including a Sunday morning pint with the Huabaoim Musi.

The amusement park opened its gates daily from 2 p.m. to the little visitors and those young at heart, and on Sundays even from 10 a.m.

This folk festival kick-off in Hausham 2025 is not only a tradition, but also combines with Veterans Day with the important aim of honoring the achievements and service of members of the Bundeswehr. In this festive atmosphere, the folk festival is a place of gathering, respect and joy.
