A serious traffic accident caused a stir on Wednesday afternoon on state road 2073 between Stürzlham and Thalham. At 4:45 p.m. two vehicles collided head-on, involving a 68-year-old driver from the southern district of Munich, who was driving a camper, and a 74-year-old woman from North Rhine-Westphalia in a BMW X5. For reasons that are still unclear, the 68-year-old crossed into oncoming traffic and caused the fatal crash. Both drivers suffered serious injuries.

The rescue workers were quickly on site and two emergency doctors, three ambulances and a rescue helicopter were deployed. The fire brigade from Holzkirchen, Miesbach, Weyarn and Reichersdorf had to tow the two vehicles away. The material damage amounts to at least 20,000 euros. The state road had to be completely closed for more than an hour while the Holzkirchen police initiated an investigation into the accident. Witnesses to the incident are asked to call 08024/9074-0.
