Delays on the Allgäbahn: FDP demands two -track expansion for punctuality!
Tannheim, Deutschland - The train connections in the Allgäu have experienced remarkable change in recent years. Since the end of 2020, travelers have been able to benefit from Munich to Lindau with the Allgäubahn, which has now been electrified. For passengers from the Württemberg Allgäu, the trip from Leutkirch to Munich will be much faster in around an hour and a half without a change. Nevertheless, one problem remains: the single -track section between Buchloe and Hergatz often causes delays. The FDP in the Ravensburg district has recognized that this bottleneck is an obstacle because the passing is prevented. According to Schwäbischer Zeitung lead these delays to a domino effect, although Delayed trains have further delays.
A spokesman for Arverio said that in two thirds of the cases, there must be waiting for other trains, which is considerably frustrating for travelers. To improve the situation, the FDP calls for a two -track expansion and an additional platform in Tannheim. A second track already exists at Tannheim station, which would enable better train coordination. Politicians have already taken measures so that a group of FDP representatives was on site and considered the possibility of a second track to Kißlegg as promising.
expansion projects and improvements
Arverio spokesman Winfried Karg points out that the federal government is responsible for the expansion of the route and that the two-track expansion could significantly improve punctuality. Interestingly, the regional plan Bodensee-Oberschwaben already provides for a free-standing route for a possible two-track expansion of the Allgäubahn. The Bavarian Ministry has confirmed that the punctuality on the busy route between Memmingen and Lindau is inadequate and frequent follow -up delays occur.
The Kißlegg train station is also to be expanded, where an additional track for freight trains is planned. The planned block seals between Wangen and Kißlegg and other sections are expected to increase the train frequency. It should be noted that there is currently no resilient data for the commissioning of these projects as part of the Germany. Temporary slow driving points, such as a speed limit between cheeks and Hergatz, significantly impair punctuality.Electrification of the Allgäubahn
In the meantime, there is also progress in electrifying other railway lines in the Allgäu. The railway line from Ulm via Kempten to Oberstdorf is to be fully electrified. This was announced by Bavaria's Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter during a visit to the Oberallgäu district and is a significant step towards climate-friendly traffic in the region. Oberallgäu district administrator Indra Baier-Müller described the project as "milestone for the traffic in the Allgäu". Since 2020, the Free State has commissioned Deutsche Bahn to plan this most important infrastructure, which also includes two -track sections and higher speeds.
The Free State also intends to expand the success concept of electrification on the route from Kempten via Immenstadt to Oberstdorf. This planning has been seen as the greatest improvement in rail transport in 30 years. The upcoming developments are part of the overarching goal of shortening travel times and introducing additional stops. A joint report will be expected by mid -2024 to prepare the next steps to implement it. Over the next few years, it could show to what extent these projects will improve rail traffic in the Allgäu.
