LG Allgäu shines on Sicily at Seniors European Championships!
Nicolosi, Italien - The European Senior Championships on the mountain run at the end of June attracted numerous athletes from all over Europe at the foot of the Majestic Etna in Sicily. Over 580 runners from more than 20 nations took part in the spectacle, which included three exciting disciplines: the Classic mountain run, the vertical run and the ultra -trailla run. With a dedicated team of six athletes, LG Allgäu was also represented in this international competition.
The results of the athletes from Kempten and the surrounding area were particularly outstanding. In the Classic mountain run, which led over a distance of 9 kilometers with 450 meters of altitude, Hans Bouricha-Hörmann from FC Ebershausen and Otto Hörmann from TV Kempten were able to secure remarkable places in the M65 age group. While Bouricha-Hörmann took 11th place, Otto Hörmann followed him in 19th place.

The vertical run with 1,010 meters of altitude was a special challenge over just 4 kilometers, especially through the slippery terrain from Lavasand. The Memminger Gerti Ott grabbed the silver medal in the W60 and set an exclamation mark. Uli Morgen from TV Kempten reached 5th place in the M55. The German team was also successful in the team classification and drove home with a silver medal. Bouricha-Hörmann and Hörmann collected other valuable points with their places 15 and 17 in the M65.
For the team, however, the ultra -trailla run will also be remembered. On this technically demanding route of 29 kilometers with 1,800 meters of altitude, Wolfgang Wäger from TV Kempten secured the 10th place in the M45 and Joachim Wilczek from SC Altstädten in the M55. Such achievements impressively show that the Oberallgäuer also plays at the top of the international parquet.
success in Bad Kohlgrub
The athletes shone not only in Sicily, but also at the German championships on the mountain run, which recently took place in Bad Kohlgrub. Organized by the Ski Club Bad Kohlgrub, over 200 participants flocked to the demanding 7 -kilometer route with 639 meters of altitude. In a gripping competition, Thomas Kotsek from TV Kempten secured the title of German champion in the M45, while he took 12th place in the overall ranking.
was supported by Kotissek by his teammates Franz Schwieger and Peter Diemer. Together they triumphed in the team ranking of the age groups M40/45 and got the championship title. In the M50/55 team, the LG Allgäu provided another strong group, with Christian Scholz, Thomas Blum and Theo Feneberg, who also brought the title to Kempten.
The achievements of Sabine Nagel, who reached the 3rd place in the W35, as well as Birgit Paluka and Brigitte Bietsch, which contributed to the strong placement among women, once again underlined the enormous potential and profound of the LG Allgäu. These successes show that the mountain running scene in Germany, especially in the Allgäu, is flourishing and there is a constant influx of talents.
