Rieneck primary school: Now certified nature park school in the Spessart!
In a festive ceremony, the Rieneck elementary school was officially recognized as a new nature park school. As part of the school festival, Oliver Kaiser, managing director of the Spessart Nature Park e.V., presented the certificate to school principal Michael Bäuerlein. Mayor Sven Nickel didn't miss the opportunity to attend such an important event and congratulate the students. The Rieneck primary school has earned a valuable award that not only focuses on sustainability, but also creates a close connection to nature.
As meine-news.de further reports, the successful certification year was characterized by numerous campaigns to promote the students' awareness of nature. A highlight was the visit to the Rimpar adventure beekeeping farm, where the children discovered the fascinating world of bees. There was also a meadow excursion with nature park guide Sara Imhof, during which local plants and animals were explored. A water excursion to the Rieneck water adventure center led by Gabi Bechold also gave the students valuable insights into water ecology.
Commitment to the environment
The teachers at the Rieneck elementary school put a lot of heart and soul into the project. All teachers took part in further training on the topic of orchards in Partenstein in order to be able to impress the students with fresh knowledge. Numerous activities, such as planting fruit trees, were initiated to teach children about the importance of orchards. This makes the Rieneck primary school the eighth certified nature park school in the Spessart, and more, such as Dammbach and Heimbuchenthal, will be added this year.
The initiative to be recognized as a nature park school goes back to the project of the Association of German Nature Parks (VDN). From 2025, schools in the Hessian Spessart Nature Park will also have the opportunity to apply for the school label. The focus here is on combining regular lessons with practical nature experiences. The aim is not only to awaken students' enthusiasm for nature conservation, but also to promote the training of future ambassadors for sustainable development, as described on naturpark-hessischer-spessart.de.
School as a learning space
The concept of the Nature Park Schools is based on integrating education for sustainable development (ESD) into lessons. The focus is on topics such as biological diversity, culture and sustainable agriculture. Extracurricular partners, such as foresters, conservationists and farmers, promote the transfer of knowledge and the practical recording of the content. The children are encouraged to actively explore their environment and engage with it - so the unique experience of nature becomes part of the school activities, as naturparke.de emphasizes.
With its certification, the Rieneck primary school has sent an important signal for the region and the environmental awareness of future generations. It will be exciting to see how the collaboration between the school and the Spessart Nature Park continues to develop and what nature experiences will be offered to the students in the future!
