Great joy at starting school: all-round care for Main-Spessart children!
The event “Hooray – I’m coming to school!” on July 15, 2025 in Main-Spessart became a colorful highlight for the little school starters. Initiated by the Main-Spessart job center and supported by regional partners, the event was aimed at families who are registered with the job center and whose children will start school in September. Many parents accepted the invitation and took part in the day full of information and warmth.
The offerings included two exciting specialist lectures. The parent coach and kinesiologist Andrea Kausch from Aschaffenburg made her knowledge available to give the parents valuable inspiration. Another topic was the support options through the education and participation package. These topics not only met with great interest, but also stimulated numerous, stimulating conversations among the participants.
Gifts for those starting school
An exciting highlight of the event was the ceremonial handover of free school bag sets. These sets were generously provided by the Raiffeisen Foundation for Main-Spessart, the Buntstift company from Würzburg and the Caritas Association Main-Spessart. Christina Bischoff, representative for equal opportunities in the labor market at the Main-Spessart job center, warmly thanked the partners for the excellent cooperation.
The event was characterized by an open atmosphere. Those present appreciated the commitment of everyone involved, which led to a special solidarity. At the end of the day, there was a desire to use this campaign to set an example for fair educational opportunities - regardless of the parents' income. This concern also finds great support in the goals of the education and participation package.
Educational opportunities for everyone
The education and participation package makes an essential contribution to providing children and young people from low-income families with good educational and participation opportunities. Funding opportunities include participation in sports clubs, music groups and lunch in daycare centers and schools. Financial support is also offered for school supplies and school trips. Learning support can be approved if essential learning goals are at risk, which can be particularly important for those starting school.
Children and young people between the ages of 0 and 25 who receive various social benefits are eligible. These include, among others:
- Grundsicherung für Arbeitsuchende nach SGB II
- Hilfe zum Lebensunterhalt nach SGB XII
- Wohngeld
- Sozialhilfe nach § 2 AsylbLG
- Kinderzuschlag nach § 6a BKGG
The authorizations for educational and participation services extend to reimbursement of costs for trips and excursions as well as learning support. Community lunch is also encouraged. The subsidy of 15 euros per month per child for participation in social and cultural life particularly benefits younger people.
The organizers of the event “Hurray – I’m coming to school!” hope that such initiatives will help give families a positive perspective. Because as the saying goes: Education is the key to the future - and the event represented a first, important step. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this day an unforgettable experience.
