Wiesen management on Staffelberg: Discover the variety of nature!
In the picturesque season mountain area near Lichtenfels, it is about doing something good for flora and fauna with the nature conservation meadows. The meadows are only mowed or grazed here from July, so that until then numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species can enjoy their habitat undisturbed. The area supervision of Obermain-Jura, together with the eco-model region and regiosaatgut Murrmann, invites you to the event "Wiesensaatgut for Nature Conservation" on Friday, July 18, from 5 p.m.
On this occasion, Stefanie Gritscher from Saatgut Murrmann will explain how wild plants sowing is obtained. For everyone who is interested in the importance of grazing, Teresa Spiegel, the area supervisor, will provide exciting insights. Stefan Janssen will also speak of the eco-model region about pasture and the enjoyment of regionally generated meat.

eco-model region for Landshut
Another step towards sustainable agriculture is taken in the city and in the district of Landshut. There, the establishment of an eco-model region was recently decided. The district committee unanimously voted for this important step, which not only benefits the environment, but should also strengthen local value chains. The city and district must submit a funding application by December 15th.
The city's environmental senate had already pleaded two years ago to participate in this project, with the aim of reaching 30 % ecological farming in Bavaria by 2030. Numerous organic producers are already active in the region, including a leading organic mill and various organic meat and bio-fermented producers.
The advantages are obvious: regional flows and money flows not only benefit from companies, but also to consumers. Each eco-model region receives a financed consultant who takes over the coordination on site. The focus is on the networking of all actors in the value chain of food, which is crucial for sustainable development.
The commitment in the region shows that both the protection of nature and the promotion of regional products can go hand in hand. Both at the event on Staffelberg and in the development of the Landshut eco-model region, it becomes clear: Here it is rely on a sustainable agriculture that appreciates and preserves our environment.
