Goodbye light bulbs! Swap old lamps for efficient LEDs in Lichtenfels!

What awaits us in Lichtenfels? On Saturday, December 6th, 2025, an exciting LED exchange campaign by the climate protection management of the Lichtenfels district will take place in the CITYCENTER LIFE. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., citizens have the opportunity to exchange old light bulbs, halogen lamps and energy-saving lamps for modern LED lamps. A great offer that not only saves your budget, but also makes a significant contribution to climate protection.

In this campaign, participants can exchange two lamps per person. It is important that you bring the old light bulbs with you. A total of 1,000 new, energy-efficient E27 warm white LED lamps are available. Each lamp has an output of 4W and a brightness of 840 lumens, which corresponds to energy efficiency class A. What is particularly pleasing is that replacing old bulbs can lead to savings of up to 90% on electricity costs - making the replacement worth it twice over!

Why LED technology?

The advantages of LED lamps cannot be overlooked. While conventional light bulbs convert up to 95% of the energy into heat, LEDs are real energy-saving miracles. Not only do they have a longer service life of up to 50,000 hours, but they also use significantly less electricity. They are also smaller, more robust and enable faster switching on than their predecessors. Another plus point is the environmentally friendly nature of this technology: LEDs do not contain any material containing mercury and help reduce the ecological footprint. Those interested can find more information on the Wikipedia page about LEDs.

A simple example: If you replace some of the classic light bulbs in your household with LEDs, you can not only save energy costs, but also increase the quality of life - after all, LED light creates a pleasant and warm ambience.

A look into the future

The December 6 event is part of a larger initiative to promote sustainable energy consumption in the region. The district is setting an example for conscious action in times of climate change. Particularly exciting is the discussion surrounding the impact of LED technology on our everyday lives, moving away from outdated light bulbs to a much more environmentally friendly option.

Additionally, one might ask how technical developments such as LED technology inspire parallel developments in other areas. For example, in the entertainment industry, where games like “Build Your Castle – Hunt for Blood – Rise in Power” take users into action-packed adventures and light up the gaming world with state-of-the-art graphics efficiency. The focus here is on multiplayer interactions and strategic elements. Information about this game can be found at PlayVRising.

The LED exchange campaign is not only an opportunity to be environmentally friendly, but also an opportunity to break old habits and actively contribute to climate protection. So, bring your old bulbs with you and take a step towards a more sustainable future!
