World premiere in Landsberg: Experience Dvořák's symphony on the organ!

On Sunday, September 14th, 2025, there will be music again in Landsberg am Lech: the festival concert of the 40th organ summer will take place in the parish church of the Assumption of Mary, and it has a lot to offer. A world premiere is expected that will certainly attract many music lovers to the church. This is the performance of Antonín Dvořák's Symphony No. 9 “From the New World” in a special version for organ and symphony orchestra. The entire concert is held in cooperation with the Mächter Klänge – International Organ Festival, an event known for its high musical quality.

A highlight of the evening will be the performance by the Prague Symphony Orchestra, led by the renowned conductor Johannes Skudlik. Skudlik, who is considered the first guest conductor of the Symphony Prague Orchestra, brings special expertise with his international experience from many concert appearances. His repertoire includes works by composers such as Mahler, Bruckner and Tchaikovsky as well as many classical pieces.

A talented soloist for the evening

The musical direction of the festival concert is in the capable hands of Winfried Lichtscheidel, who has been working as a deanery church musician in Landsberg am Lech since April 2023. Lichtscheidel is not only a multiple winner of international organ competitions, but has also produced radio recordings for ORF, BR and DLF. Another plus: He was awarded for his Widor recordings in 2018. It is therefore clear that the evening not only promises a musical journey through Dvořák's sound worlds, but also offers the opportunity to experience one of today's best organists live.

The concert program promises a successful mix of contemporary compositions and the classical symphony, which will provide variety and a wide spectrum of sound experiences. The artist talk, which will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., also gives the opportunity to engage with the artists in a personal way and find out more about their art.
