Saxony get-together in Landsberg: Old friends, new faces!
Another exciting Saxon get-together is just around the corner! On Friday, November 28th, 2025, from 6:30 p.m., the Gasthof Mohren in Landsberg am Lech invites everyone who is interested. The regulars' table, which has a tradition of over 30 years, is an excellent opportunity to meet old friends and get to know new faces. Gerald Lässig and his dedicated team from Waldheim are looking forward to organizing this evening together and chatting about Saxon culture. The invitation is aimed particularly at those who either come from Saxony or simply would like to speak and hear Saxon.
The town twinning between Landsberg and Waldheim, which was launched in 1990 after the opening of the inner-German border, is the foundation of this exchange. This long-standing connection not only promotes friendship, but also cultural understanding between the two cities. The event offers a space to exchange ideas about the many facets of Saxon culture and is open to anyone who is interested.
A look at the partnerships
Landsberg am Lech has been able to establish a number of international town partnerships over the years. In addition to Waldheim, there are partnerships with Hudson in Ohio, USA, since 1984, Saint-Laurent-du-Var in France, since 1986, Rocca di Papa in Italy, since 1989, as well as a cultural partnership with Bushey in southern England and a city friendship with Siófok in Hungary. These connections often have historical roots and serve intercultural exchange in times of globalization.
- Hudson, Ohio, USA: ca. 30.000 Einwohner, historische Altstadt
- Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Frankreich: ca. 30.000 Einwohner, Strand und Altstadt
- Rocca di Papa, Italien: historische Altstadt, Überreste einer Festung
- Waldheim: ca. 10.000 Einwohner, Jugendstil-Rathaus, Nicolai-Kirche
- Bushey: Kultur- und Schulpartnerschaft
- Siófok: bekannt für Touristenzentrum am Plattensee
These partnerships not only promote personal contact, but also innovative projects to involve citizens more closely. Given the current challenges in maintaining these relationships, organizing regular get-togethers is a welcome opportunity to keep the exchange alive. If you would like to find out more about the events and the town partnerships, you will find a wealth of information on the website of the city of Landsberg am Lech and other relevant pages.
So, if you are interested in cultural exchange and would like to make new acquaintances, you should mark November 28th in your calendar now!
