Landsberg am Lech: Climate protection goes into the second round!

In the district of Landsberg am Lech, something is happening in terms of climate protection! The district has set up again to take part in the European Energy Award (EEA). The second round of this important initiative now begins with the aim of continuing the commitment to climate protection and evaluating existing activities. As district-landsberg.de , the EEA process follows a structured approach that is divided into four phases: analyzing, planning and checking.

During the first phase, which lasted from September 2020 to July 2023, some significant measures were taken: among other things, the development of a climate management, the development of a guide for sustainable building and regular audits for reviewing and continuous further development of the measures. The district was able to reach 59.8% of the possible points in the EEA - a remarkable success!

award and recognition

and the commitment bears fruit: On November 22, 2023, the district was officially awarded for its efforts. The prize was presented in the Göggingen Park Theater in Augsburg, and the district's delegation was allowed to receive the title "European Energy and Climate Protection Communions". This award shows the result of 59.8% of the possible points in the energy and climate-political work at the municipal level. The district was supported by eza! Energy and Environmental Center Allgäu , which contributes significantly to the implementation of the EEA process.

a success that was also possible with the support of the Bavarian Ministry of Environment. These progress is part of a larger trend, because more than 25 million people in Germany live in climate protection municipalities, reports the page European-energy-award.de . A total of 243 cities and municipalities as well as 49 circles and counties take part in the EEA to actively promote climate protection and energy efficiency.

goals of the second round

What is on the agenda? The second round of the EEA process aims to make the region even more climate-friendly and future-proof. The municipality hoped to further optimize existing measures and to develop new project ideas. A good knack in planning and implementation is the A and O.

With a solid foundation through the first round and a clear goal in mind, the Landsberg am Lech district will surely continue to take a pioneering role in the area of climate protection. The regular audits and the support of local actors will help to put the developed climate management into practice and to make the region fit for the future.
