Kulmbach celebrates the Old Town Festival 2025: music, enjoyment and joy!

The 44th Old Town Festival is just around the corner in Kulmbach! From Friday, July 4th, to Sunday, July 6th, 2025, Kulmbach's old town will be transformed into a large festival mile. The start takes place on Friday at 5 p.m. on the market square, where Mayor Ingo Lehmann taps the first barrel of beer and the municipal youth band from the Kulmbach Music School provides the musical accompaniment. This marks the traditional ceremonial opening of the event, which was first organized in 1979. Kulmbach.de reports that this year eight streets in the city center will be used for the festival.

With a variety of culinary delicacies, the festival has something for every palate. In Buchbindergasse, visitors can enjoy Italian dishes from “Due Fratelli” as well as delicacies from the twin city of Lugo. If you are more interested in Franconian-Bavarian delicacies, “Café Roberts” on Spitalgasse is the right place for you. The market square offers music and show acts from “Vaganza Events” as well as international delicacies.

A colorful program for young and old

The Upper City becomes the venue for DJs and bands who create a great atmosphere in the bars “Casablanca”, “Sohle”, “Lina” and “Bulli”. There is also a celebration in the government car park: bands like “Rocktime”, “double b” and “Barfly” perform here, while the Oberhacken scores with rock music from 15 bands at “Oberwacken”. The Museumswinkel attracts visitors with freshly tapped museum beer and performances by “Ö-Drei”, “Brassbound Rockets” and “Acoustica”. Franconian day highlights that the Waaggasse is being reactivated, under the organization of Daniel Manzer from “Mr. Hops”.

For the little festival visitors there will be creative offers around the market place on Saturday, July 4th, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. In addition, the traditional old town festival run organized by dc AG and the Tough Monks will take place on Sunday, with a few starting places remaining. This variety of activities ensures that the festival in Kulmbach is accessible and entertaining for all ages.

Changes in concept

This year there are some changes to the festival. Eku Square is no longer used and the “White Tower” remains empty due to a new security concept. These aspects were confirmed by Anja Meyer-Hempfling, head of the tourism and event service. Despite these adjustments, Kulmbach's old town remains a vibrant place for celebration and socializing. Stadtfeste-in-Deutschland.de summarizes that this year the old town will once again be transformed into a large dance and festival stage, which will provide a varied experience with live music and culinary delicacies.
