Kerm in Kitzingen: Festive days with a parade and live music await you!
In the tranquil settlement of Kitzingen, the annual Kerm will be celebrated again from August 1st to 3rd. This traditional event, which warmly invites all citizens, not only brings a festive mood, but also a varied program. On Friday morning, the members of the fraternity begin decorating the settlement with colorful trees and flags, creating the perfect atmosphere for this festive weekend.
On Saturday, August 2nd, the focus will be on preparations for the big move. The festively decorated floats are expected for the excavation on Sunday, August 3rd at 1 p.m. and will lead through the settlement to the intersection of Texasweg and Breslauer Straße. There the new queen will be crowned and the previous incumbent, Nora Bergsträßer, will be given a ceremonial farewell. This ceremony is a highlight of the celebrations and promises a lot of emotions.
The Kerm supporting program
The events on the SSV sports grounds promise to delight young and old. On Friday, August 1st, you can look forward to a game by the old men at 5 p.m., followed by a convivial church consecration dinner. From 7 p.m., the live band “Let's Dance” ensures a good atmosphere until midnight, while the bar from 8 p.m. attracts all night owls.
Saturday also has a lot to offer: the first and second teams compete in exciting games from 1.45 p.m., and from 5 p.m. it's “Kirchweihessen” again. The band “stattgraben” will provide musical entertainment from 7 p.m., with admission prices of just three euros ensuring that everyone gets their money’s worth.
Sunday highlight
The festival on Sunday, August 3rd, starts at 10 a.m. with a hearty white sausage breakfast, accompanied by the music of the “Fränky” band. From 4 p.m. the “Schwarzier Buam” will ensure the best atmosphere. Also on this day, the church consecration dinner should not be missed, which will take place from 5 p.m.
A special mention goes to Michael Neubert from the fraternity, who thanks all helpers, supporters and sponsors for their great commitment. All of this sets the scene wonderfully for the Kerm.
Move is redirected
My Charivarireports that the route of the train has undergone some changes due to a construction site on Breslauer Straße. The parade now starts on Sickershäuser Straße and leads through several stations to the coronation site. So keep an eye out for the festively decorated floats and enjoy this unique spectacle.
The climax of the celebrations is the burial of Kerm in the dark on Sunday evening. This is an old tradition that brings with it a very special atmosphere and brings the festival to a dignified end.
We are looking forward to a colorful weekend full of joy, community and unforgettable experiences. Be there and let yourself be caught up in the festive spirit!
