Kaufbeuren indoor swimming pool: renovation is delayed indefinitely!

There is news in Kaufbeuren that is of interest to swimmers and sun worshipers alike. The renovation of the indoor swimming pool is progressing, although there have been some unforeseen obstacles. According to the city administration, how kaufbeuren.de reported, the roof renovation has long been completed and the installation of the new photovoltaic modules is already underway. The focus is now on renewing the stainless steel pools, which are eagerly awaiting installation and will significantly improve the bathing experience.

However, there are also challenges to overcome. When around 1,300 square meters of floor and wall tiles were urgently needed to be replaced, the city administration had to terminate the construction contract with the company originally commissioned. The tiling work cannot be progressed on time, which means that the reopening of the indoor swimming pool will be delayed by several months. Completion was originally planned for the beginning of 2026 - this date probably cannot be met. Construction officer Helge Carl regrets the delay, but reiterates that the city is doing everything it can to move the remaining work forward quickly.

The demolition work in the indoor swimming pool has also already been completed and the water treatment in the basement has been successfully carried out. The pool builder is already ready for the stainless steel work, which will take around 75 working days. However, the work was initially stopped for six months due to the discovery of toxic asbestos fibers in the tile adhesive, which severely affected the entire renovation. In addition, the city council decided to reject the new catering area for cost reasons. Nevertheless, visual changes have been announced for visitors to the indoor pool, which should contribute to a significantly enhanced bathing experience.
