Audi in driving mode: record production in Neckarsulm and Ingolstadt!

In the world of automobiles, Audi remains a hot candidate for the market in 2025. The numbers speak for themselves: From January to September 2023, Audi recorded around 1.176 million vehicles sold worldwide. Although this is a decrease of 4.8 percent compared to the previous year, sales increased by 5 percent to 152,000 units in September. Stimme.de reports that the car manufacturer is planning a comprehensive model offensive despite the challenges.

20 new models are expected to come onto the market by the end of 2023, including the highly anticipated Q3 Sportback. The production lines at the Neckarsulm and Ingolstadt locations are running at full speed. While 144,122 vehicles were produced in Neckarsulm - an impressive increase of 49.2 percent compared to the previous year - the main plant in Ingolstadt was able to produce 257,286 cars, which corresponds to an increase of 2.4 percent.

Production capacities and future models

The production capacities in both plants are significant. Annual production of around 190,000 to 200,000 vehicles is expected in Neckarsulm, while around 320,000 to 330,000 units are expected in Ingolstadt. With a maximum capacity of 225,000 vehicles in Neckarsulm and 450,000 in Ingolstadt, Audi is well positioned and has big plans. In particular, the aim is to bring a new, high-volume electric car to market in the second half of the decade.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner highlights the redefinition of “Vorsprung durch Technik” and speaks of a consistent model offensive. Over 20 new models are planned for 2024 and 2025, including both battery-electric and combustion vehicles such as the Audi Q6 e-tron and the A6 e-tron. Audi-Mediacenter emphasizes that 2024 should be seen as a transition phase for the new product portfolio.

Market challenges and consumer behavior

But challenges lurk in the background. Geopolitical and economic conditions influence delivery figures. The reluctance to buy fully electric vehicles is particularly noticeable, which also influences sales figures. Over 164,000 all-electric models were delivered worldwide in 2024, representing a decrease of 8 percent. In Germany, sales fell by 21 percent, while deliveries in Europe fell by 6 percent overall.

Audi is trying to counteract the market situation with popular models such as the Audi Q4 e-tron, which was sold around 108,000 times. But revenues have also fallen in overseas markets, which has affected sales internationally, the figures show. Nevertheless, Audi remains optimistic and has clear goals in mind. Stimme.de explains that despite the difficulties, the car brand wants to continually adapt and expand its product portfolio.

In summary, Audi is on the right track, even if the environment remains challenging. The coming model offensive could be the key to a more successful year 2025. It remains to be seen whether Audi really has a good hand at this.
