In Burgrain, a picturesque part of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district, there is a breath of fresh air in family education. The district recently decided to further advance the family education concept and carried out a comprehensive survey among the families in the district. The survey was initiated at the beginning of 2025 and aimed to reach families with at least one child under 18 in Burgrain. A total of 215 households were contacted with an invitation to participate, which was available in seven languages. Of the 41 participants who took part in the survey, 31 completed the questionnaire completely. This results in a response rate of 19.05%. A total of 79 children under the age of 18 were reached, with the largest age group being between 6 and 10 years.
Family needs and interests
One of the most striking results of the survey was the high demand for leisure activities for families, which was expressed by 52.63% of participants. Activities such as children's cinema, scientific experiments and holiday care for children with autism are particularly in demand. In addition, many parents were interested in topics such as youth and puberty, mental health and the compatibility of family and work.
The feedback from parents was consistently positive. 65.85% of those surveyed were already familiar with the offerings of the family support center and the parents' café in Burgrain. According to the survey, information about the offers should mainly be provided via flyers or notices in public places as well as through newspaper articles, as 48.15% of participants stated.
Support offers in the region
