Danger of severe weather for the Assumption Day: Severe thunderstorms are imminent!

The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a series of severe weather warnings for today, August 16, 2025, on Assumption Day, which is keeping us here in Bavaria on tenterhooks. Severe thunderstorms were warned in the early hours of the morning, and the forecasts are not particularly reassuring.

The warnings primarily affect the region around Ingolstadt, where strong thunderstorms can be expected until midnight. The first hopes for a quick end to the storms have already been dashed, as the warnings are valid until around 11 p.m. for the Pfaffenhofen district with a level 2 out of 4 thunderstorm. The districts of Altötting, Mühldorf am Inn and Traunstein also have to prepare for severe level 3 out of 4 thunderstorms until around midnight.

Weather situation in the region

In the city of Ingolstadt and the neighboring districts of Pfaffenhofen a.d. The DWD also did not keep quiet about Ilm and Neuburg-Schrobenhausen with warnings. The warning about strong thunderstorms of level 2 was in effect here until around 8 p.m. The situation has calmed down somewhat in parts of the region, but the official warnings have already been lifted in the districts of Cham, Neuburg-Schrobenhausen, Eichstätt, Regen and other areas.

In order to take a well-rounded look at the situation, it is important to also mention the warnings for the city and the district of Rosenheim. A severe thunderstorm of level 3 out of 4 was also detected here, putting residents on alert. One wonders whether we have been used to these capricious weather conditions for quite some time now.

Tips for residents

For those residing in the affected areas, some precautionary measures are advisable. It's best to stay in sheltered rooms and avoid going outside during thunderstorms. The severe weather warnings provide a good overview of the current situation, and safety should always be the top priority!

We will stay tuned and keep you updated about the current situation and possible all-clear warnings. Stay safe and take care of yourself and those around you!
