Big clean-up campaign in Freising: Over 120 helpers for a clean city!
The city of Freising can look back on a remarkable campaign! On November 8, 2025, over 120 volunteer environmental activists demonstrated their commitment to nature at the Savoyard Au parking lot. This annual campaign under the motto “Clean Landscape” aims to rid the urban area of waste. And it seems that it was once again a complete success, as the city reports on its website.
The collection campaign brought together considerable amounts of rubbish, including plastic waste, paper, bottles - including many returnable bottles - and even bicycles and a large suitcase. What a lot of junk that came together! Beate Metz from the Office for Urban Planning, Environment and Climate Protection was responsible for the organization.
Diverse involvement in the districts
But garbage wasn't just collected in the center. At the same time, “Ramadama” campaigns also took place in the districts of Attaching and Tüntenhausen. Around 50 children, young people and adults from BC Attaching got involved in Attaching, while in Tüntenhausen local spokeswoman Elvira Wiesheu and FFW commander Andreas Ulitzka organized the garbage collection. This shows that the people of Freising are willing to do their part for a clean environment not only in the city, but also in the neighboring communities.
In addition, a total of 85 environmentalists were already active in Pulling and Achering in spring 2025. City councilor and environmental officer Manfred Drobny welcomed the participants in the central campaign and thanked them warmly for their great commitment. The group of participants consisted of a colorful mix, including representatives from Hagebaumarkt Freising, members of the Texas Instruments Team Green Network, DAV Freising e.V., Naturfreunde Freising e.V., as well as many other organizations and institutions.
Sense of community and regional support
The campaign was given a special touch by the support of the Hagebaumarkt Freising, which provided valuable materials such as work gloves, safety vests, buckets and garbage grabs for the environmental friends. The youngest helpers were also remembered: Peter Lenz from Lerchenfeld donated 50 bars of chocolate for the children. After a fulfilling day, everyone involved was invited to lunch together at “Ristorante Le Genistre”, where minestrone and home-baked bread were served.
Mayor Tobias Eschenbacher emphasized the importance of the joint conclusion, which promoted exchange between the participants and cohesion in the community. Such events are not only important for the environment, but also strengthen the sense of community in the city.
Freising’s commitment to sustainability and environmental awareness is not a flash in the pan. More and more people are willing to take action and make their contribution. Initiatives such as the “#tatenfuermorgen” portal offer platforms and suggestions to contribute to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the city of Freising is at the forefront when it comes to promoting and supporting local actions that have a positive impact on our environment (Deutschland.de).
Freising shows that sustainability is always “highly valued” and that even small actions can make a big contribution if many people work together. We can only hope that these positive examples find many imitators.
