Freising starts the electric revolution: 29 electric buses for environmentally friendly public transport!

What's happening in Freising? The Stadtwerke Parkhaus und Verkehrs-GmbH (PVG) is switching to electric transport! Exciting news comes fresh from the heart of the city: Freising is committed to sustainability and investing in a greener future. To this end, Stadtwerke PVG has placed an order for 29 electric buses from MAN - 20 standard buses with 12 meters and 9 smaller models with 10 meters. These environmentally friendly vehicles have now arrived in Freising and are used to support local public transport.

But that's not all: from the timetable change in December, public transport services will be increased by a good 30 percent. Instead of the previous 1,120,000 kilometers, 1,480,000 kilometers are now to be covered annually with the new e-buses. This means a significant improvement in timetables, increased frequency and the development of new routes. Mayor Tobias Eschenbacher highlights the significant progress in network and clock improvements.

A seamless transition to e-mobility

In a step towards fully electric public transport, Omny GmbH will be responsible for bus trips from December 14th. This company, which is part of the ecoVista group, already operates around 400 buses and employs more than 1,000 people in Germany. In addition, the renovation of the bus depot in Attaching, which will provide parking spaces for 32 electric buses, will be completed by July 2026 at the latest. Unfortunately, the new electric vehicles currently have to be temporarily relocated to the Luitpold facility, which involves additional costs of around 150,000 euros.

The procurement of the new e-buses is being carried out with financial support from the federal government amounting to over 8 million euros. Federal Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder has emphasized the relevance of electric buses for climate-friendly local public transport, which further underlines the importance of this measure.

A look at the future

The decision to switch to 100% electric buses is not only a step towards more modern mobility, but also a signal for other cities to follow Freising's example and also rely on sustainable transport solutions. With this measure, Freising shows how it has a good hand for the future. Citizens can therefore look forward to modern, environmentally conscious local transport that meets all environmentally friendly requirements and increases the quality of life in the city.

So Freising is serious about e-mobility - and we can't wait to see what further developments will follow in this regard!
