HC Erlangen starts the 2025 handball season with a big celebration!

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Erlangen experienced a true celebration of handball enthusiasm. The official season opening of HC Erlangen took place on Schlossplatz, in midsummer temperatures that further heated up the mood among the fans. Market mirror reports that hall spokesman Axel Fischer, who has been working for 30 years, led the event.

Fans had the opportunity to take advantage of interactive elements, including the ability to ask players questions via Instagram Story. The “YoungGuns” in particular were able to attract attention – the new young talents who made it into the Bundesliga squad. In addition, Andri Rúnarsson was presented as a new signing and Sebastian Firnhaber celebrated his comeback after a 20-month injury break.

A new wind in management

The change in the club's management was also particularly noticeable: Daniel Pankofer took over the role of new managing director in July, while Ole Rahmel was appointed as the new sports manager. These personnel changes could bring a breath of fresh air into the club's strategy, which wants to assert itself both sportily and economically.

Another highlight of the event was the honoring of the female B-youth and the male A-youth for their sensational win of the German championship. Such successes are not only important for the young talents, but also strengthen the bond between the fans and the club.

Participatory activities and personal closeness

Fans were able to take part in various hands-on activities. For example, the throwing speed was measured, sports bags could be printed and there were numerous competitions and merchandising offers. Players were also available to sign autographs and have personal conversations. All of these elements contributed to the event not only highlighting the sporting side of the club, but also strengthening the sense of community and connection between players and supporters.

With such a successful opening, the future of HC Erlangen looks promising and fans can look forward to an exciting season. It remains to be seen how the club will develop under the new conditions and what surprises they have in store.
