Erding celebrates Fairtrade: Student Café ensures sustainable enjoyment!

In Erding, the P-Seminar of the Korbinian-Aigner-Gymnasium launched an exciting project: a pop-up Fairtrade café with the motto "Your coffee is fair-your school too". Under the direction of Julia Jacobs-Pfaffelmoser, the pupils developed a concept that not only offers delicious treats, but also makes an important contribution to sensitization to the fair trade thoughts. At various school events, visitors were able to enjoy fair trade products such as coffee, lemonade and chocolate bars and at the same time do something good.

The equipment of the café was generously financed by sponsors, which shows that the project is well received by the community. In the end, an impressive 450 euros could be redeemed who would benefit the world shop Erding. The donation handover to the representative Peter Bossek and Helmut Freiwald found a warm framework and underlines the commitment of the students.

fair trade in focus

The topic of fair trade is more current than ever, especially during the fair weeks in Germany, which last until September 24th. This time focuses on the contribution of fair trade to decent working conditions and sustainable management. The world shop Erding, now in new rooms in Spiegelgasse, deals intensively with this topic and takes the opportunity to draw attention to the problems and challenges in the global trade environment. Fair trade rejects child and forced labor and supports the training and further education of the producers, which is in line with the general explanation of the human rights of the UN Charter.

Especially in Corona pandemic, the miserable working conditions became obvious in many industries worldwide, and millions of people are struggling to survive every day. This particularly affects people in the global south, who often have to work under dangerous conditions. An important goal of the world shop is to bring customers closer to the need for a decent economy and to show alternatives.

point of view of the community

The committed shop team in the world shop Erding has set itself the goal of talking to the customers about these important topics and presenting examples of a responsible trade. Products are offered here that are 100% processed, bottled and packed in the country of origin. In this way, each individual can actively contribute to supporting a fairer and sustainably economy world.

The pop-up Fairtrade Café and the activities of the world shop Erding are part of a larger whole that means hope and a perspective on a better life for many people. The initiatives in Erding are a sign that fairness and solidarity can make a big difference even in small communities.
