Summer cinema in Eichstätt: film fun under the stars begins!

A mild summer evening, the air smells of popcorn and the light from the screen dances in the darkness - this is how the open-air cinema in the historic garden of the former cathedral provost in Eichstätt becomes a show for film fans. It's starting soon, because the series of events begins on July 24, 2025 and promises to be a real highlight for all cinema lovers. The media department of the Eichstätt Diocesan Education Center and the Eichstätter Filmstudio have come together to put together a varied film program that invites you to laugh, think and feel good bistum-eichstaett.de reports.

The film selection is colorful and diverse. Six films are on the program that address current and entertaining topics. The French comedy “The Barbarians – Welcome to Brittany” opens on July 24th, followed by the cult musical “Mamma Mia!” on July 25th. A special highlight is the preview of the tragicomedy “Wilma wants more” on July 26th. On the following weekends, viewers can experience, among other things, the British film “The Salt Path” and the Irish comedy highlight “Four Mothers for Edward”, before the series concludes on August 2nd with the road movie “Karli & Marie”.

Important information for visitors

The film screenings begin at nightfall, i.e. after 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 8:45 p.m. and tickets are available at the box office. The price for the pleasure is 11.50 euros, reduced 10 euros. If you plan to spend the evening outdoors, it's best to bring blankets or pillows with you, as there are plenty of seating options. Unfortunately, bringing your own chairs or even pets is not permitted. Drinks can be purchased on site.

Of course, there are also weather regulations: If there is light rain, the performance will take place as planned, but visitors must expect a cancellation in the event of severe weather.
