New women's shelter in the Ebersberg district: Protection for affected women!

A women's shelter has opened its doors in the Ebersberg district and has been offering protection for women affected by domestic violence since October 2025. With a secret location to ensure the safety of the residents, the house represents an important retreat. At an information event, the rooms were only presented virtually and in heavily edited photos, which underlines the need for discretion and security. So far, two women and their children have lived in the women's shelter, one has already moved out. The initiative is supported by the “Women Helping Women” association, which is committed to addressing the concerns of the women affected.

The increase in violence against women in Germany is alarming. According to a study by the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, 40% of women in Germany have experienced physical or sexual violence since the age of 16. Women in relationships are particularly affected; one in five has currently or in the past experienced violence from current or former relationship partners. The number of unreported cases is high because many women do not go to the police out of shame or fear. The women's shelter in Ebersberg not only offers a roof over your head, but also comprehensive support from the employees - from individual protection concepts to help with dealings with authorities.

Spaces and support

The women's shelter can accommodate up to seven women and their children, although boys up to the age of 12 can be accommodated. The functionally and comfortably furnished living, sleeping and lounge areas as well as special play areas invite you to feel good. Women often only bring the bare essentials that they were able to pack together in a hurry. But in the women's shelter they have the opportunity to develop new perspectives in a protected environment.

The dedicated team on site would like to thank you for the political support and the numerous donations that contributed to the establishment of the women's shelter. A special highlight is the 20,000 euros provided by Marianne and Michael from the “Frohes Herz” foundation, as well as the donation of bookshelves by the Iny Lorenz Foundation. Mayor Ulrich Proske has also announced annual support of 20,000 euros from the “Dr. Wilfried and Ruth Halisch Foundation”, which illustrates the important role of local politics in this process.

Security measures

Women's safety is a top priority. In addition, special security measures such as opaque pleated blinds, video cameras and a chip locking system provide additional protection. Contact with the police is also guaranteed so that you can react quickly in an emergency.

The problem of domestic violence is a serious issue that affects everyone not only in Ebersberg, but throughout Germany. The trend shows a worrying increase in cases. The Federal Criminal Police Office recorded over 240,000 victims of domestic violence in 2021, with 71.1% of these victims being female. It is therefore very important that facilities like the women's shelter in Ebersberg are able to offer women and children a safe refuge and help them break out of the cycle of violence.

The women's shelter in Ebersberg is a ray of hope in difficult times, and it remains to be hoped that many women will have the courage to seek out and use this safe haven.
