Florian Otto: The Bavarian magician delights Ebersberg with traditional costume!

A very special magician is causing excitement in Ebersberg: Florian Otto. The 32-year-old magician, who performs in costume and is well-known in his home region, has developed his own distinctive style. About 25 years ago he was inspired by a magic box, which laid the foundation for his career. However, with training as an event technician and later studying to become a banker, he was not always to be found on stage.

He achieved a real breakthrough in 2011 when he was named German Youth Champion in Magic by a jury of experts. Since then he has made a name for himself, shining on the stages of Bavaria and Austria, while appearances in northern Germany are not uncommon. His love for magic led him to quit his banking job in 2018 and devote himself entirely to magic. With a lot of enthusiasm and creativity, he became self-employed, which has made him a sought-after artist in recent years, who will soon present his almost fully booked show at the Altes Speicher Ebersberg.

Successes and special experiences

Otto impresses with a mixture of Bavarian cabaret and his various magic tricks. A highlight of his career was winning the duel of the magicians in Munich in 2019, where his quick costume change in just one and a half seconds amazed the audience. Meeting the famous David Copperfield backstage in Las Vegas 2022 was also an unforgettable experience for Otto.

But it's not just professional magicians who are in the spotlight. The German Youth Magic Championships, organized by the Magic Circle of Germany, take place every year. These championships, which have been held annually since 2011, offer talented young people under the age of 18 the opportunity to prove themselves. The next event will take place in Gera from October 17th to 19th, 2025. Here the young magicians have the chance to compete with others, with performances lasting between 5 and 10 minutes. However, anyone interested in taking part should register earlier, as only a maximum of 30 participants can be admitted per year.

A magical New Year's Eve

Magic lovers can also take a look beyond the Bavarian borders. On New Year's Eve, December 31st, the magic gala of the Düsseldorf Magic Circle will take place in the Ratingen town hall. Under the title “Magical New Year”, visitors can expect a varied program in which viewers can immerse themselves in the magical world of various magicians. Admission is between 39 and 59 euros, depending on your choice of seating, and even includes free drinks during the event.

Whether in Ebersberg or Ratingen, the passion for magic is unbroken and inspires young and old alike. Preparations for the next performances are in full swing and it remains exciting to see what creative wonders the magicians will present in the future.
