Cycling in the attractive region: The Jakobus Ries cycle route is now fully signposted! This new cycle tour is the heart of an extensive cycle path network that aims to increase the tourist attractiveness of the Danube-Ries area. Steffen Reddel, the first chairman of the ADFC Donau-Ries, emphasizes how important this initiative is for the local economy. “We are convinced that the tourist enhancement of the region through cycle tourism can give a real boost,” he explains.

It wasn't until the beginning of June this year that Jürgen Nitz supervised the signage for the first section. It can now be announced that the entire route from Nördlingen to Harburg is marked with the distinctive shell symbol. “It even worked in just two days!” Reddel is pleased, because the realization was achieved with the active support of the ADFC Donau-Ries. The volunteers also had a particularly exciting experience: Nitz was lifted up with a pallet truck in Wemding in order to put up the cycle signs.

Inviting message for cycling pilgrims

With the words “Buen Camino” the initiators wish all cycling pilgrims a good journey. The Jakobus Ries cycle route leads reliably south and offers cyclists a wonderful opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the region.

But cyclists should definitely not race. According to the ADFC Donau-Ries, careful behavior in road traffic is the be-all and end-all. Cyclists and pedestrians are considered unprotected road users and must prepare for all eventualities. “Proactive driving is crucial to avoid accidents,” emphasizes the organization. It is advisable to give hand signals before turning to clearly communicate your intentions.
