Storm chaos: 68 missions during storms and heavy rain in the district!

On Monday night, the Dingolfing-Landau district experienced a violent storm that had numerous consequences for residents. Heavy rain and storms led to the district operations center being alerted at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday. From that point on, emergency services were available around the clock to deal with the situation. By 3:30 a.m. on Monday, a whopping 68 emergency locations had been coordinated idowa reported.

The focus of the operations was in places such as Niederviehbach, Loiching, Frontenhausen, Marklkofen, Reisbach, Simbach and Eichendorf. The emergency services particularly had to struggle with full basements, fallen trees and flooded roads. The fire brigades were on alert several times throughout the night and were able to mobilize a total of 19 fire brigades from the district, who were on site with around 250 emergency services.

Efficient cooperation between authorities

The situation required close cooperation between the integrated Landshut control center, the district operations center, the fire departments and the police. This cooperation proved to be extremely effective in responding quickly to the large number of operations and providing support where it was needed most. Nevertheless, there were further alerts for additional deployment sites on Monday morning, which shows that the emergency services' work was far from over.

Heavy rain and floods pose serious dangers for the population and emergency services, the German Fire Brigade Association also warns on its website. Flooded streets and paths pose a risk to drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. You should be particularly careful in bank areas, underpasses as well as in underground car parks and cellars that are in flood areas. There are many dangers in nature, such as landslides and falling trees, which can be dangerous.

The fire department therefore provides some important tips for dealing with such storms. Citizens in flood areas should only move on visible ground and avoid forests and slopes. Building entrances, sewage shafts and basements in vulnerable areas should also be secured. It is advisable to park vehicles in higher areas. Observing barriers and road closures is mandatory and the instructions of emergency services should be followed. If self-help is successful or the water drains away, it is advisable to inform the fire department again to clarify the situation.
