In the last few weeks in Deggendorf city center, life has returned to the air. A new pair of stork has settled in the Bräugasse, more precisely in the third building. The biologist Dr. Hans-Jürgen Thorns, who discovered two chicks that hatched at the end of May. The special thing: The male stork, which was previously at home in the city center, changed his partner. The old companion came back and already found her nest occupied by a new stork woman.

The new stork woman wears a ring that she identifies as in May 2021 by the Radolfzell bird's course in Nördlingen/Schwaben. It is remarkable that this couple has now successfully hatched four chicks, which now thrive splendidly. The chicks are lovingly fed by the old storks and supplied with water. It is striking that the chicks already show the typical black and white plumage, but their beaks still have gray color.
