Donaufest Deggendorf: Spectacular highlights and live Q&A on July 16th!
A fresh wind is blowing across the Danube, and there are reasons for that! From July 17th to 20th it's that time again: the popular Danube Festival in Deggendorf is just around the corner. Mayor Dr. Christian Moser and head of the cultural department Sabine Saxinger presented the program, which is considered the highlight of the year. There will be a pre-opening for families on the first day of the festival, followed by an official opening at 7 p.m. at which the Danube Queen Stefanie I will perform. The evening is rounded off musically with an impressive fireworks display under the motto “The Danube is dancing”.
What shouldn't be missing from a party? That's right, good food and music! Culinary enjoyment is guaranteed with around 25 different restaurants. Whether rock, pop, jazz or traditional brass music – there is something for everyone on four stages. Performances by Karin Rabhansl and the “Keller Steff Band” promise the best entertainment. The stilt walkers from “Sonnenflammen” will also create a special atmosphere, while the Deggendorf brewery operators will present their hop and malt taverns full of delicacies.
The new “Sky View”
A special highlight this year is the premiere of the “Sky View” – a platform 50 meters high with breathtaking panoramic views over the Danube. Here visitors can enjoy a unique view while spending their time at the festival. In order to experience this special moment with up to 20 people, the Saller crane company offers event baskets that can be booked in advance.
Tickets for the Danube Festival have been available in advance since June 23rd and start at 3 euros. With over 150 free program items, no one is forced to put too much strain on their wallet. And if you want a little exercise, the Two Bridges Run ensures that even sporty people get their money's worth.
Attractions for the whole family
The Danube Festival offers a variety of attractions. The youth organization 4You has made history a priority and will provide wooden games and creative gardens. The Federal Police will organize exciting children's activities and joyrides on the Danube, while international cultural assets from Hungary, Serbia and Ukraine will be presented at the Danube Market. The festival will not only be a place of joy, but also a place of cultural togetherness.
But before the festival really gets started, Mayor Dr. Christian Moser for a live Q&A. On July 16th at 7 p.m., anyone interested can ask him and the guests, including the Danube Queen, their questions as part of a live stream. This special exchange takes place in Sky View and can be accessed via various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Questions can be asked via comment, WhatsApp, or even post, and all questioners will receive feedback.
A total of around 100,000 visitors are expected in the heart of Deggendorf. The Danube Festival is a festival for young and old, an event that brings the community together and celebrates the beauty of our region. Be there!
