Dachau on the way to becoming a bicycle city: ideas for the transport transition!

Cycling is very important in Dachau. On October 29th, the event “Vision Bicycle City – How Dachau can learn from other cities for cycling” will take place in the Ludwig Thoma House, organized by the local branch of BÜNDNIS 90/THE GREENS. The aim of the event is to have a lively discussion about the future of mobility in the city. The Critical Mass bicycle demo, initiated by the ADFC, is a successful start to draw attention to the topic.

At the beginning of the event, a keynote speech will be given by Ingwar Perovanovich. This provides information about successful transport transitions in European cities and highlights the positive effects such measures have: better air quality, less noise and a reduction in accidents. These aspects are particularly important for the citizens of Dachau, who are increasingly committed to a sustainable transport policy.

Participation and challenges

A moderated discussion round led by mayoral candidate Martin Modlinger is the next item on the program. Also taking part are experts such as Markus Büchler, member of the state parliament and mobility spokesman for the Greens, and Simon Schories from ADFC Dachau. Büchler criticizes the Bavarian state government's transport policy and calls for consistent application of the road traffic regulations.

The citizens present came up with lively ideas on how the city could be made more bicycle-friendly. Suggestions include, among other things, continuous cycle path networks, special cycle streets and the reduction of individual motorized transport in the city center. Modlinger himself is optimistic: “The transport transition is already working and can also be implemented in Dachau,” he states. This positive attitude is also reflected in the high level of participation and interest among citizens in sustainable solutions.

ALLIANCE 90/THE GREENS plans to incorporate the ideas collected at the event into political work. The prospect of making urban transport more environmentally friendly gives rise to hope that Dachau will further develop its cycling policy.

A look at the general conditions

As the city grapples with these important questions, the area of reference materials in laboratories is also important. These materials are essential for confirming the identity of unknown substances and contribute to the calibration of measuring devices. Given the large number of materials to be analyzed and the difficulties in selecting appropriate references, the need for new standards is becoming increasingly clear. Experts and researchers work intensively on this to ensure quality and reliability in the scientific community. More details on this topic can be found on Mendeley's website: Mendeley.

Overall, it shows that Dachau is on the right path to making mobility in the city sustainable. With the support of committed citizens and political actors, it could be possible to establish Dachau as a cycling city and at the same time overcome the challenges in other technical areas.
