In the last few days, the tranquil community of Vorbach has experienced a real fire alarm. The emergency services had to put out several fires in just three days! The first major fire broke out on Saturday afternoon when a 45-year-old resident discovered thick smoke in the forest and immediately called the emergency number. The fire blazed over an area of around 300 m² and could only be brought under control with great difficulty.
It continued on Sunday with another operation when a 40-year-old reported smoke again, this time in a different forest area - a blessing in disguise, the damage was only minimal. But the shock continued: On Monday evening, several sources of fire were burning, including two waste paper containers and a wooden shed that was fully ablaze! While firefighters tried to tame the flames, windows in a neighboring municipal building shattered from the heat. The Weiden criminal police have now started an investigation into suspected arson and are looking for witnesses. Anyone who sees anything suspicious should call 0961/401-2222 immediately. The total property damage could be in the mid five-figure range!
