On Monday, July 7, 2025, a tragic mountain accident on the Sagerecksteig near Schönau on the Königssee occurred. A 62-year-old man from Middle Franconia fell around 100 meters of altitude during the relegation and suffered fatal injuries. Despite the rescue measures initiated by the Berchtesgaden mountain rescue service and the rescue helicopter Christoph 14, the man could no longer be helped - he died at the scene of the accident.
