Ship accident in Fürth: Personal ship rams pedestrian bridge!

On Wednesday evening, July 2, 2025, there was a dramatic incident on the Main-Donau Canal near Fürth-Oberfürberg: a passenger bridge roamed 'Fürberger Steg'! Around 10:10 p.m., the ship was on the way from Nuremberg to Erlangen when it touched the bridge due to the cause. Fortunately, all about 80 passengers and 40 crew members remained intact, but the upper deck of the ship was damaged-the costs amount to a low five-digit amount.

The police and around 70 emergency services from the fire brigade and water rescue quickly ensured that nobody was injured. During the review of the incident, the Main-Donau Canal was closed to shipping. The property damage to the bridge is estimated at several ten thousand euros, but the stability of the Fürberger bridge remains unaffected. A detailed review will take place the following day, and shortly after midnight the passenger ship was able to resume its journey while the channel was released for traffic.
