Bloody attack in the ICE: man with ax and hammer attacks passengers

On Thursday, July 3, 2025, a violent incident shook the ICE 91 on the route from Hamburg-Altona to Vienna. A 20-year-old Syrian attacked several passengers with an ax and a hammer without warning. The passengers passed immediately took initiative and overwhelmed the attacker, but he himself suffered serious injuries and was arrested by emergency services.

Several people were injured in the attack, including three Syrians aged 15, 24 and 51 and a 38-year-old. All injuries are currently in medical treatment, but so far there is no information about the severity of their wounds - there is no danger to life. Around 430 travelers were on the train at the time of the attack. A collection point was set up nearby for the passengers, while the investigation into the motif and background of the attacker is still running.
