summer heat and their consequences

Not only the current weather causes a sensation. According to PNP Weather experts expect a specific heat wave for the summer 2025, which is a challenge for agriculture. The drought already pressing in spring 2025 led to the slightest amount of precipitation since 1931.

On average, it rained only around 40 liters per square meter in Germany between February and April, which corresponds to a dramatic minus of 68 percent compared to the past decades. Regions in the northwest are particularly affected, where the precipitation fell to less than 35 percent of the usual values.

For farmers, this development could have serious consequences, for example in the form of crop failures and constantly increasing irrigation costs. One can only hope that the summer months will not bring the hoped -for relief and that the prospects will not end in a bitter prea for consumers and industry.

The risk of forest fire also increases. Ready in May the disaster due to a forest fire was proclaimed in the area of Erlangen, which further exacerbated the situation.

The coming days will show us whether the sun not only brings us in a good mood, but also comes up with further challenges. So be well prepared and enjoy the nice weather!
