a special anniversary

The evening is part of an extensive anniversary program that the city of Bayreuth, clubs, institutions and private individuals design on the occasion of Jean Paul's 200th anniversary. bayreuth.de emphasizes that Jean Paul is considered an unclassical classic of German literature and was very popular at the time of his work. Mayor Thomas Ebersberger describes the program as diverse and exciting, with both traditional and modern elements.

The anniversary program includes a variety of events, including exhibitions, plays and workshops. The highlights are the exhibition "The many sky of the Jean Paul" in the old castle, which can be seen from March 21 to May 3, as well as the summer exhibition "Between Heaven and Earth" with caricatures by Matthias Os, which takes place in the city church from July 6 to September 14th. A workshop for children who addresses the creative game with Jean Paul's word creations also ensures very special access to its work.

a cultural discovery

Jean Paul, born Johann Paul Friedrich Richter in Wunsiedel, was an important representative of literature between classical and romanticism. He temporarily lived in Bayreuth, where his literary career also started. He achieved his breakthrough in 1795 with the novel "Hesperus or 45 Hundpintage", followed by numerous other works such as "Siebenkäs" and "Titan". Despite his popularity, Jean Paul died on November 14, 1825, but his legacy continues in Bayreuth, be it through the Hermitage, the Hofgarten or the Jean-Paul Museum.

For everyone who has a common love for music and literature, the upcoming evening in Jean Paul Art Space is a festive opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of one of the most exciting German authors. Tickets are available on both the Musica Bayreuth website and at the box office. Further events as part of the anniversary will follow, for example, on June 15th "The Bach Sons" in Fantaisie Castle or on June 20, the concert with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra.
