Culture Prize for Bayreuth heroes: Rothenbuchs and Baier honored!

Bayreuth, Deutschland - On July 11, 2025, the city of Bayreuth became the stage for a special occasion: The municipal cultural prize went to two outstanding personalities in the region. Mayor Thomas Ebersberger presented the award in the picturesque castle and baroque garden Carolinenruhe, one of the jewelry that shines again in new splendor thanks to Peter Rothenbücher's tireless work.

Peter Rothenbuch, known for his passion for historical buildings, received this honor due to its excellent restoration performance of the dilapidated Palace Birken Castle, which is located in the Birken district of Bayreuth. This former marginally hunting lodge was acquired in 1975 by Rothenbücher and after extensive renovation back in its original baroque charm. The gardens, which are decorated with magnificent garden sculptures by Ferdinand Tietz and Johann Peter Wagner, are now available to the public for visits.

The two -time cultural award

The decisions for the award ceremony were the factions of the city council, with Rothenbuchs being awarded the SPD city council group. Barbara Baier, the head of the internationally known Zamir choir, was also honored for her merits. Baier, which was proposed by CSU and Bayreuth Community (BG), not only enriched the cultural scene of Bayreuth, but also actively contributed to the promotion of German-Israeli relationships. Their international appearances have made the city known far beyond its borders.

In his laudation, Gil Klemperer, a companion of the Zamir choir, raised the importance of Baier for the cultural identity of the region. Rothenbücher's laudation was made by Dr. Peter O. Krückmann, the former museum speaker of the Bavarian Palace Administration, held, who addressed the great challenges of the restoration of historical buildings and praised the quality of Rothenbüchers.
